Lunch and Milk

We expect all children from Reception to Year 6 to have their lunch in school.  Many parents and carers choose to buy a school meal for their child, or take advantage of the Universal Free School Meals offered in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2.

The meals are cooked to a high standard on the school site.  The children are offered a choice of hot meals – a meat/fish or vegetarian option.  We also have an ‘eat as much as you like’ salad bar!

An up to date menu can be found above.  If you are unsure about any of the items on the menu - please speak to the office staff.

If your child is in Key Stage One (Reception, Year 1 or Year 2) they will be entitled to a free cooked meal provided by the school, following the Government’s Universal Free School Meal scheme.  Children in these year groups are able to change from packed lunch to school lunch and vice versa at the start of each half term only.

Children in Key Stage Two (Years 3, 4, 5 and 6) can choose to have either a packed lunch or school lunch daily. From September we no longer use the ParentPay system.  Lunches will need to be paid for daily with cash once the children enter the dining hall.  The current cost for a school lunch is £2.30 a day.  Please ensure your child has a purse or wallet to keep their lunch money in.  It will need to be clearly labelled with their name and have a zip pocket for coins.  Teachers will collect in the purses and wallets at the start of the day and hand them out at lunch time.  We will then collect the purse of wallet back in after lunch and hand it out at home time.

Please ensure that packed lunches are packed in a named lunch bag and that there are no chocolates, sweets, nuts or fizzy drinks included.

Free School Meals (FSM)

Many children qualify for Free School Meals.  Application forms for these are available from the school office or by clicking on the link below.  The forms must be supported by proof of entitlement e.g. Income Support details.  Please speak to a member of the office staff if you would like to discuss this further.

Our School Milk Scheme

All children can register to receive milk on a daily basis.  By registering your child for our school milk scheme they will receive a 189ml (third of a pint) carton of semi-skimmed milk every day. This is delivered fresh and chilled to their classroom every day.

“How much does it cost?”
Thanks to government subsidies, school milk is free for all under-fives and is subsided at around £15 a term for children aged five or older.

“Why should I register my child?”
School milk provides your child with essential nutrients such as calcium and protein, for strong, healthy teeth and bones. It is also rehydrating and energy boosting, helping to bridge the long gap between breakfast and lunch so children stay focused.

“How do I register my child?”

If your child is under five-

1. Go to or pick up a form from school.

2. Just register by a Tuesday for your child’s free milk to start the following week.

3. Free milk will continue until the Friday before your child’s fifth birthday. You will receive a payment request three weeks before this time- if you wish for your child to continue to receive school milk simply make a payment.

If your child is over five-
