Our policy outlines how EAL pupils are supported at Chatsworth Primary School.
We are committed to making outstanding provision of learning, teaching and resources for pupils for whom English is an additional language and for raising the achievement of minority ethnic pupils who are at risk of underachievement.
Every pupil is entitled to receive the full National Curriculum programme and every teacher has a responsibility for teaching every child in their class. We celebrate the different cultures, backgrounds and languages of our school community. We aim to offer an inclusive education in which the child's first language is acknowledged and encouraged to develop alongside their acquisition of English.
There are over 40 languages spoken by the children and their families which we aim to support in class or in small groups.
